I worked with Connie both in her role as a designer and design manager for about a year. During the time we worked together, she was unfailingly a fierce advocate for users (and her team). She was able to learn a new industry from the ground up and became one of our most valuable resources for user behavior and use cases. Connie is extremely well-versed in design best practices and can quickly come up with elegant solutions to tough UX problems. Connie was pivotal in many aspect of making a project successful - from helping to define requirements, conducting user research and testing, providing beautiful designs, solving nitty gritty edge case issues that never fail to come up during dev, and assisting devs in elegantly implementing design system components. She was instrumental in providing context across teams to ensure that cross-project work was consistent. Connie will be missed and will be a wonderful addition to a team looking for an outstanding designer and dedicated leader.
Connie is exceptional at what she does. Her knowledge of OOCSS and front end design helped us launch a very large web system (both the internal support and publishing tools as well as the public facing front of Docs for PlayStation) in record time. As importantly, her unrelenting attention to detail ensured that system made sense when it went live. She is a fierce advocate for the products she works on, and is very willing to participate in a team environment. She will be an asset to any group she is a part of and is fully accountable for whatever she takes on.
Connie was one of the first designers ever hired at Context Optional and we threw her directly into the fire with a ridiculous deadline on a major Christmas campaign for Mattel. She delivered great results on a crazy schedule, and her design for a Barbie Facebook app later won an advertising award (the first in our company's history). Since then we've relied heavily on her combination of great design aesthetic and deep technical know how. It's rare to find such a versatile combination of design, UI and coding experience and it's amazing when she's as hard working as Connie. For years, she was one of my go to people for major campaigns because I knew she'd make us look good with our biggest customers.
Connie has a wonderful design sense, a sharp eye for detail, is a great teammate, and as a designer she was a developer's best friend. Not only does she create thoughtful, usable interfaces but she understands the development process and how to design with technology in mind. She makes life easy by working with grids and webfonts, knowing lots of CSS, and either doing all her own slicing and layout or delivering smartly organized layer comps; she was one of the most tech-savvy designers I've had the luxury of working with. Her ability to work with developers stems from her deep desire to learn and grow, so it doesn't surprise me at all that she is now expanding her skillset further into front-end and back-end web technologies. Working with Connie is also fun; she's quick to joke and laugh, and the kind of person you want by your side slogging through an 11th-hour deadline. I would hire Connie in a heartbeat.
I’ve had the privilege of working with Connie Wong for the last year at Context Optional. Our team was tasked with an extensive project consisting of several back-to-back phases and tight deadlines, and Connie’s technical expertise proved to be a huge asset to our project. One of Connie’s most outstanding qualities is that she is dedicated to ensuring that everything she produces adheres to the highest standards and follows best practices. She takes a lot of pride in her work, and on many occasions she has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that various elements of the project were completed on time and to client satisfaction. I recommend Connie highly and look forward to working with her again in the future.
